Voss herad
The 1st of January 2020 Voss and Granvin municipality merged together, and chose to keep the name Voss.
Voss is a hub between Hardanger and Sogn, between east and west both for buses and railways in the region. “Bergensbanen”, the railway between the western and eastern part of Norway as well as E16 and RV13 goes through Voss. The municipality is a regional centre for school- and trading. Voss lays in between the Hardanger fjord, and Sogne fjord. The nature in the region of Voss offers great experiences both in summer- and wintertime of the year. After the merge with Granvin the population is approximately 15.000. Granvin village has traditionally had agriculture as livelihood. This is the foundation for recent years industrial development, which is shown wtih “Granvin Bruk”.
