Naustdal is an elongated municipality situated in the county of Sogn og Fjordane and counts about 3 000 inhabitants.
Centrally located between the cities of Florø and Førde, naturally some inhabitants commute. Most of the workplaces in Naustdal are within agriculture, construction and public services.
Naustdal has a good reputation for their art-scene. Well-known artists such as Oddvar Torsheim, Kjartan Slettemark og Svein Thingnes are born in Naustdal. The village of Vevring has since 1979 hosted an annual exhibition called Vevringutstillinga.
On 1 January 2020, the neighbouring municipalities of Naustdal, Førde, Gaular and Jølster are scheduled to merge into one large municipality called Sunnfjord.
