Sunnfjord
Sunnfjord is a municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Sunnfjord. The Sunnfjord was established the 1st of January 2020, as the municipalities of Førde, Jølster, Gaular and Naustdal merged together. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Førde. Other villages in the municipality include Naustdal, Sande, Vassenden, and Skei.
Sunnfjord borders to Kinn and Globben in the north, Stryn and Luster in east, Sogndal in southeast, Høyanger and Hyllestad in south and Aksvoll in the western part of the municipality.
The municipality is about 2,208 square kilometres and has a population of approximately 22 000 inhabitants. The terrain consists of steep valleys. Sunnfjord is located in the southern part of the fjords in Vestland county. The highest mountain in Sunnfjord is located in the eastern part of the municipality. “Blåfjellet” which is 1390 meters above sea level.
